HLTK* 1730 - Massage Therapy Principles, Ethics & BusinessThis course focuses on theory and standards important in the practice of Massage Therapy (MT). The course presents the history of MT around the world as well as its current forms. The course provides instruction in potential pathologies (injuries, traumas, and cumulative/chronic stress conditions), their indications/contraindications in terms of appropriate MT modalities, and the therapies’ effects on the pathologies. Therapist client ethics and the legalities of practicing MT are also discussed. A comprehensive business plan is developed. Credits: (3.00 cr.) Lecture/Lab Hours (3 lect/lab hrs/week) |
