MATH 0900 - Pre-Algebra This course reviews fundamental math and algebra concepts in preparation for MATH 1500 Applied Math, BADM 1005 Business Math, MATH 1000 Problem Solving, and MATH 0930 Intermediate Algebra.

Prerequisites: Math Placement Level I
Minimum Student Competencies Upon completion of MATH 0900 Pre-Algebra, the student will:
- demonstrate knowledge and comprehension of the basic sets of numbers in the real number system.
- manipulate positive integers, fractions, and decimals by addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
- perform conversions between fractions, decimals, and percents.
- apply the order of operations to simplify expressions including symbols of grouping and exponents.
- solve problems using applications of percents, ratios, proportions, and geometric formulas.
- solve linear equations with rational coefficients in one variable.
- graph linear equations in two variables in the Cartesian Coordinate System.
- graph inequalities in two variables in the Cartesian Coordinate System.
- solve first degree equations and inequalities.
- solve application problems.
- solve systems of equations with up to two unknowns.
- manipulate polynomials by adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing polynomials.
