Agriculture AAS

This program provides the flexibility for Agriculture AAS degree bound students to focus on one of the three major agriculture disciplines offered at Sheridan College while selecting from a wide variety of agriculture support courses with the assistance of their faculty advisor.  This is an ideal degree track for those wishing to explore a number of different agricultural-related areas or those wishing to acquire specific and unique skills and knowledge in agriculture.

Agriculture AAS Program Outcomes

• Apply the scientific method to real-world problems in agriculture.
• Develop a global perspective on the agricultural industry.
• Communicate effectively in the realm of agriculture.
• Compare marketing channels for agricultural products.

Required Course of Study for AAS Degree:

Freshman Year


Spring Semester - Total Credits: 15


  • ** Credits / Units: 15
  • The spring semester requires 6 credits of program electives and an additional 9 credits of program requirements.

Sophomore Year


Fall Semester - Total Credits: 15


Spring Semester - Total Credit: 15-16


  • **  Credits / Units: 15-16
  • The final spring semester requires 11 credits of program electives and an additional 4-5 credits of program requirements, depending on your choices.

Total Degree Credit Hours: 60-61

Student must choose one of the following options:

Agriculture Business:

Program Requirements: 19 credit hours from AGEC 1020 Agricultural Microeconomics; AGEC 2300 Agricultural Marketing; AGEC 2360 Agricultural Sales; AGEC 2020 Farm & Ranch Business Management; AGRI 2385 Agricultural Communications; AGRI 1010 Computers in Agriculture

Program Electives:  27 credit hours from AGEC, AECL, AGRI, ANSC, BIOL, CHEM, CNTK, CROP, DESL, EQST, FCSC, FDSC, HORT, REWM, WELD courses

Animal Science: 

Program Requirements:  20 credit hours from ANSC 1010 Livestock Production; ANSC 2015 Livestock Reproduction; ANSC 2020 Feeds and Feeding; ANSC 2110 Beef Production; ANSC 2320 Livestock Pathology; REWM 2000 Principles of Range Management

Program Electives:  27 credit hours from ANSC, AECL, AGEC, AGRI, BIOL, CHEM, CNTK, CROP, DESL, EQST, FCSC, FDSC, HORT, REWM, WELD courses

Students must also collaborate with their faculty advisor to complete and maintain the Program of Study planning form that identifies a semester-by-semester sequence of courses that will lead to the AAS degree.
