Criminal Justice AS

The Criminal Justice AS program is designed to serve in-service criminal justice practitioners, pre-service students who desire immediate employment after graduation, students who wish to transfer to a four-year institution to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, and those interested in criminal justice related topics.  It is designed primarily for transfer to a four-year institution. 

Criminal Justice Program Outcomes

  1. Identify the major goals of the Criminal Justice System and it’s components (CRMJ 2120 Intro to CJ).
  2. Critique the application of rights to criminal defendents and criminal procedure as defined by the US Constitution (CRMJ 2200) Constitutional Law.
  3. Identify the basic elements of criminal culpability such as actus reus and mens rea and causation and concurrence (CRMJ 2210 Criminal Law).
  4. Survey the various functions that law enforcement agencies perform (CRMJ 1520 Law Enforcement Operations).
  5. Analyze the major theories of crime causation to include biological, sociological and psychological perspectives (CRMJ 2400 Criminology).
  6. Describe sentencing philosophy and identify the central purpose of criminal punishment within the United States (CRMJ 2350 Intro to Corrections).
