Horticulture AS

The Horticulture AS program prepares students for transfer by providing a foundation of skills and experiences in the plant sciences as they relate to greenhouse management,  landscape management, vegetable and fruit production, and biotechnology. The science and cultural practices necessary for the successful production of food and the maintenance of a healthy and attractive environment are explored in this program.

Horticulture AS Program Outcomes

  1. Design solutions to real-world horticultural issues using the scientific method
  2. Describe plant-soil interactions and their effects on plant health and productivity
  3. Manage environmental factors to promote healthy plant growth and propagation in outdoor and controlled environment situations
  4. Identify and describe both woody and herbaceous plant material using correct terminology (taxonomy, anatomy, morphology, and physiology
  5. Demonstrate and practice safety, environmental protection, workplace ethics, and leadership skills in the horticultural workplace
