The Engineering Technology AAS program introduces students to engineering design and environmental concepts used in data collection, field sampling and surveying, and data management and modeling.  This program explores environmental standards that impact the day-to-day work of Engineering Technicians working in industry.

The program culminates with a multi-disciplinary capstone class focusing on data sampling using multiple scientific disciplines. The capstone class also employs student skills in CAD & GIS technologies to model and illustrate field data through geodatabases, CAD technology, field data collection units (GPS), and GIS mapping software.

Engineering Technology AAS Program Outcomes:

  1. Design 2-dimension and 3-dimension objects that conform to relevant industry standards by using Computer Aided Design and Drafting software.
  2. Illustrate scientific or technical field datasets that conform to relevant industry standards.
  3. Collect contextually relevant field or shop data using appropriate hardware and software.
  4. Communicate scientific and mathematical information effectively, with content specialists.
  5. Apply the fundamental principles of geology, environmental science, and engineering as they relate to environmental concerns.
  6. Perform environmental sampling in accordance with industry standards.
  7. Apply Geographical Information Systems and Computer Aided Design technology to present field data.
  8. Apply relevant techniques, skills, and engineering technology tools to solve problems.
  9. Demonstrate an understanding of professional and ethical responsibility by analyzing issues in profession.
  10. Implement a data collection project plan designed by the student.
  11. Evaluate the integrity of field data.
