Horticulture and Sports Turf Management AAS

The Horticulture and Sports Turf Management Associates of Applied Science Program prepares students for careers in the broad field of horticulture including athletic and recreational turf grass management, greenhouse management, landscaping, and crop production. Graduates will attain knowledge and skills in plant production, landscape design, landscape maintenance, turf management, and plant identification.

Program Outcomes:
  1. Manage environmental factors that promote healthy plant growth and propagation in outdoor and controlled environment situations

  2. Identify correctly plant material, both woody and herbaceous that is used in the horticultural industry throughout the inter-mountain west

  3. Plan effective landscape designs and their maintenance

  4. Manage turf in residential, golf and athletic applications

  5. Apply basic plant physiology concepts in the production of horticultural crops.

A “C” or better in all required program courses & the following general education courses – math, science, basic and advanced writing.

Fall Semester - 13 credits


Spring Semester - 16 credits


Summer Session - 3 credits


Sophomore Year


Fall Semester - 15 credits


Spring Semester - 13 credits


Total Credit Hours: 60
