Cyber Security AAS

The Cyber Security AAS Program prepares students for a career in computer network and Internet security.  The program prepares students to develop information security strategies, perform risk analysis, install security software, monitor network traffic and develop an emergency response plan.  It provides background and hands-on experience in securing MS Windows, Unix/Linux, Cisco, networks, servers, and clients, and the enterprise network.  The courses map to the National Security Telecommunications and Information Systems Security (NSTISSI) standards as well as to the Security+, Cisco, and Microsoft Server Certifications.  Employment opportunities are expected to grow dramatically.

Cyber Security Program Outcomes

• Perform a vulnerability assessment on a network.
• Develop a security policy and auditing plan.
• Apply the different forms of cryptography in a network setting.
• Implement security measures for operating systems and file systems.
• Implement network device security in the form of access lists, firewalls, and VPNs, and Intrusion Detection Systems.
• Evaluate the effect of network, computer, software, and social engineering attacks.
• Analyze modern day ethics and moral philosophy as a framework for decision making in the Information Age.
• Demonstrate set-up and basic maintenance of network systems including network operating systems, clients, and servers.
• Analyze the ways an information system affects an organization’s competitive advantage.
