Social Science AA

The Social Science program at NWCCD is designed to provide the student with core knowledge in such areas as Anthropology, Geography, Political Science, and Sociology. The program introduces students to the scientific method ranging from comprehending reality at the abstract theoretical level, to concrete data collecting. This program prepares students for advanced study.

Social Sciences Program Outcomes:

  • Apply basic research methods in anthropology or sociology, including research design, data analysis, and interpretation
  • Explore sociocultural diversity on local, country, and international levels
  • Examine the applicability of theory and empirical findings to social, policy, and global issues
  • Summarize the major concepts, theoretical perspectives, and historical trends in anthropology or sociology
  • Assess the functionality of societies both present and past
