MUSC 1025 - Introduction to Music Education This course music majors the opportunity to explore music education. It is a required first-year course for students wishing to complete a bachelor’s degree in music education. Introductory music education concepts and techniques are explored and developed. A field experience is required.

Minimum Student Competencies Upon completion of MUSC 1025 Introduction to Music Education, the student will:
- 1. develop basic techniques of public school music education through class discussion, lectures, classroom observations, and teaching experiences.
- explain methods and approaches of teaching music in a public school environment.
- employ critical thinking methods for reflective teaching.
- develop professional materials to build a teaching portfolio.
