MUSC 1295 - Keyboard Theory II
This course reinforces core music theory concepts through the development of rudimentary keyboard skills taught in a group setting. Emphasis is placed on the preparation for a piano proficiency exam required of most four-year music programs. Second in a four-semester sequence, MUSC 1295 Keyboard Theory II covers minor keys, modes, parallel scales and arpeggios, secondary triads, and seventh chords.

Minimum Student Competencies
Upon completion of MUSC 1295 Keyboard Theory II, the student will:
- realize standard music notation as a musical performance on a keyboard instrument.
- execute technique (scale patterns and chord progressions) in a variety of keys.
- transpose musical compositions at the keyboard.
- harmonize melodies using various accompaniment patterns.
- improvise melodies and accompaniments.
- sight-read musical works of appropriate difficulty.
- prepare assigned repertoire so that it is recital-ready.
