MATH 0900 - Pre-Algebra Arithmetic This course reviews fundamental math and algebra concepts in preparation for MATH 1500 Applied Math, BADM 1005 Business Math, MATH 1000 Problem Solving, and MATH 0930 Intermediate Algebra.

Prerequisites: Math Placement Level I
Minimum Student Competencies Upon completion of MATH 0900 Pre-Algebra Arithmetic, the student will:
- Demonstrate knowledge and comprehension of the basic sets of numbers in the real number system.
- Manipulate positive integers, fractions, and decimals by addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
- Perform conversions between fractions, decimals, and percents.
- Apply the order of operations to simplify expressions including symbols of grouping and exponents.
- Solve problems using applications of percents, ratios, proportions, and geometric formulas.
- Solve linear equations with rational coefficients in one variable.
- Graph linear equations in two variables in the Cartesian Coordinate System.
- Graph inequalities in two variables in the Cartesian Coordinate System.
- Solve first degree equations and inequalities.
- Solve application problems.
- Solve systems of equations with up to two unknowns.
- Manipulate polynomials by adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing polynomials.
