MUSC 2035 - Aural Theory III This course offers students an opportunity to develop advanced techniques and methods related to the skills learned in MUSC 1045 Aural Theory II. Emphasis is placed on chromatic harmony and formal structures in music.

Prerequisites: MUSC 1045 Aural Theory II
Co-requisites: MUSC 2030 Written Theory III and MUSC 2290 Keyboard Theory III
Minimum Student Competencies Upon completion of MUSC 2035 Aural Theory III, the student will:
- Sight-sing melodies that employ implied secondary function.
- Sight-sing melodies that utilize modal mixture and predominant “color” chords.
- Sight-sing melodies that modulate to closely-related keys.
- Perform and transcribe rhythmic patterns and pieces that utilize asymmetrical and changing meters, super-subdivided beats in slow tempos, and syncopations found in popular music.
- Improvise short musical performances using a prescribed set of parameters.
- Transcribe melodies and harmonic progressions that employ chromaticism, secondary function, and modulation
