CNSL 2010 - Counseling Ethics This course provides students with an opportunity for study of selected ethical and professional topics in counseling. These topics include, but are not limited to: ethical, legal and professional issues related to decision-making, self-awareness, multicultural issues, values, relationships, boundaries, familiarity with the current ethical principles of the major mental health professions and the current laws regarding those professions in Wyoming.

Instructional Method Lecture
Minimum Student Competencies Upon completion of CNSL 2010 Counseling Ethics , the student will:
- Identify resources for enhancing individual judgment.
- Compare ethical practices across cultures.
- Analyze the components of professional competence.
- Explain patient confidentiality principles.
- Discuss informed consent and the client’s freedom of choice.
- Contrast the ethical responsibilities in individual and group interventions.
- Summarize ethical issues in special settings
