PLUM 1520 - Plumbing Apprenticeship I This course is the first in a series of four classes required to meet the 576 total hours of educational training for an approved State Supervised Apprenticeship program. This Level I course provides students with 144 hours of educational training as an introduction to the plumbing profession, tools, materials, fixtures, and systems and basic construction skills and safety. The principles in this Level 1 course are the foundation of all National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) courses. Basic Construction Skill topics include safety, basic math, hand tools, power tools, construction drawings, rigging, communication skills, employability skills, and materials handling. Level I Plumbing curriculum includes the following topics: plumbing profession and safety; math, symbols, and drawings used in the plumbing industry; commonly used plumbing tools and materials; and an introduction to vent, waste, drain, and water distribution systems. This course emphasizes safe work procedures and will provide students with a foundation for more technical areas of study. Co-requisites: Student must be registered in an approved apprenticeship or pre-apprenticeship program. Minimum Credits: 6 Comments: This course will be delivered once per year. Grading: Letter
