ParaEducation A.A.S.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, ParaEducation is one of the fastest growing professions in the U.S.

The primary duty of a ParaEducator is to assist and support teachers. An ordinary day in the classroom for a ParaEducator usually consists of implementing instructional activities planned by the teacher, observing the students and giving the teacher feedback on their progress, tutoring students, and helping the teacher administer tests. After the students have gone for the day, ParaEducators work with the teacher to plan the events for the following day or week.

For those interested in a career in this growing field, the ParaEducator program at Sheridan College is a perfect place to get your educational training. NWCCD: Sheridan College and Gillette College’s ParaEducator program is an in-depth, comprehensive program designed to provide students the technical skills they will need to begin a career as a ParaEducator. The program is also designed to provide further training to working ParaEducators who need to gain additional training to stay current with state standards.
