The Criminal Justice AS program is designed to serve in-service criminal justice practitioners, pre-service students who desire immediate employment after graduation, students who wish to transfer to a four-year institution to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, and those interested in criminal justice related topics. It is designed primarily for transfer to a four-year institution.
Criminal Justice Program Outcomes
- Examine the components of the criminal justice system (CRMJ 2120 Intro to CJ).
- Critique the application of rights to criminal defendents as defined by the US Constitution (CRMJ 2200 Constitutional Law).
- Examine the basic elements of criminal culpability including actus reus, mens rea, and causation and concurrence (CRMJ 2210 Criminal Law).
- Investigate the various functions that law enforcement agencies perform (CRMJ 1520 Law Enforcement Operations).
- Analyze the major theories of crime causation to include biological, sociological and psychological, and life course perspectives of criminality (CRMJ 2400 Criminology).
- Analyze sentencing philosophy within the United States (CRMJ 2350 Intro to Corrections).
