Animal Science AS

The Associate of Science in Animal Science is an agricultural degree that allows students to gain knowledge and experience in this multi-disciplinary field. Students build upon a foundation of science with hands-on, practical animal science courses in their area of interest.

Program Outcomes:
  1. Design solutions to real-world animal production issues using best management practices and the scientific method. 

  2. Demonstrate knowledge of animal husbandry, behavior and handling techniques to effectively interact with animals in a safe and humane manner. 

  3. Differentiate concepts of reproduction, nutrition, herd-health, economics, and management between livestock production programs to make them practical and profitable. 

  4. Evaluate the role of nutrition and develop feed rations for the different livestock production systems. 

  5. Investigate the ever-changing demands of animal agriculture and demonstrate how to be pro-active to meet consumer demand. 

A “C” or better in all required program courses & the following general education courses – math, science, basic and advanced writing.
