Theater and Dance AA

The Theatre & Dance Program is designed to prepare students for transfer to a baccalaureate program and for work in the areas of entertainment, education, art direction, design, industry, and commerce. The program provides an opportunity for students to practice their craft.

Program Outcomes:
  1. Integrate theory and practice through performance.

  2. Synthesize performance styles, genres, and major playwrights/choreographers from different cultures and historical periods.

  3. Demonstrate the ability to work with others in the context of a production.

UW Transfers: Please refer to the 2+2 articulation agreement for seamless transfer following graduation from NWCCD.

Note:


Cultural Studies choices must come from at least 2 areas: Global Diversity, Humanities, Foreign Language, Social and Behavioral Sciences, Visual and Performing Arts; Courses should be outside the THEA department for those planning to transfer to UW and should include a foreign language.

Recommended electives are various areas of emphasis:


Foreign language is recommended for students planning to transfer to a 4-year theater program in pursuit of an advanced degree.

Musical Theater Emphasis (19-20 credits)


Technical Theater Emphasis (19-20 credits)


Theater Generalist (19-20 credits)


Any combination of the general program electives as approved by a faculty advisor in Theater.
