Electrical Apprenticeship Certificate

The Electrical Apprenticeship Certificate Program fulfills the State of Wyoming and Department of Labor (DOL) Office of Apprenticeship educational requirements for registered apprentice electricians. The program is intended for apprentice electricians who have been registered with the State of Wyoming by their employer. The coursework emphasizes the National Electrical Code (NEC) and prepares apprentice electricians to pass the Journeyman Electrician licensing exam at the conclusion of their four year apprenticeship. A series of 8, 3-credit courses will deliver 576 hours of educational training required over the four year working apprenticeship.  The program is designed to be completed during a four year (8,000 hour) working apprenticeship. 

Program Outcomes:

1. Apply electrical safety practices and procedures

2. Demonstrate a commitment for the apprenticeship process and adhere to the responsibilities of an Electrical Apprentice

3. Interpret electrical drawings and diagrams

4. Demonstrate AC and DC motor drive principles

5. Demonstrate the use and application of basic tools of the electrical trade 

6. Perform electrical troubleshooting with applicable tools and instruments

7. Explain the use of basic materials used in the electrical trade 

8. Apply basic theory of electricity to work application

9. Utilize the National Electrical code for electrical trades work
