Associate of Arts/Associate of Science Degree Requirements

Associate of Arts and Associate of Science Degrees

The Associate of Arts and Associate of Science Degrees at NWCCD are designed to prepare students for transfer to an upper division baccalaureate degree program. The general degree requirements are designed to provide the student with basic competencies in communication and computation as well as exposure to subjects outside the student’s area of concentration. Specific requirements are designed to enhance the student’s skills in analysis, quantification and synthesis.

Students who complete the Associate of Arts or Associate of Science Degree should be accepted as junior level transfers at baccalaureate degree-granting institutions. It is the student’s responsibility to work with his/her Advisor in obtaining transfer approval of courses taken at NWCCD from the institution to which the student plans to transfer. Students should keep syllabi and course descriptions to help with the transfer process. Transferability of courses is ultimately determined by the receiving institution. Documentation and knowledge of the transfer policy of the institution to which transfer is to be made is an integral part of the transfer process.
