BIOL* 1100 - Introduction to Biotechnology


This course introduces the use of living organisms or their products to enhance human health, agriculture and the human environment. It focuses on how to characterize the hereditary information in DNA, how it is isolated, cloned, expressed and inserted into host cells and gene libraries. Applications of the growing field of biotechnology in forensics, paleontology, human gene therapeutic and agriculture are explored.

Prerequisites/Corequisites
Prerequisites: Complete BIOL*1010- General Biology I.
