EDCI 1450 - Earth Science in the Elementary School This course is designed for students majoring in elementary education and is a companion course to GEOL 1070 The Earth: Its Physical Environment. The course covers the application of teaching basic earth science concepts to elementary education students. Topics in meteorology, astronomy, geography, and geology are covered.

Minimum Student Competencies Upon completion of EDCI 1450 Earth Science in the Elementary School, the student will:
- develop a notebook of ideas for hands-on classroom activities and lists of appropriate children’s books, source books, and materials
- demonstrate their understanding of active, hands-on science teaching by presenting example activities, plus appropriate fillers and puzzlements
- demonstrate satisfactory scores on tests and assignments
