OEPR 1650 - Fishing Guide Operations This is a multi-faceted course which introduces the development, acquisition, and application of the skills and competencies necessary to become a successful fishing guide. The course will provide additional technical training for individuals who have already gained basic competence in fly and spin casting. In addition to teaching advanced fishing skills, course instruction will include guiding philosophy; growing a guiding business, knowledge and skills for planning an outing; local and regional laws and regulations, minimal impact and outdoor ethics, aquatic entomology, local and natural history, drift boat operation, wading safety, and use of a variety of tackle.
Prerequisites: Physically capable of completing moderate to difficult hiking and carrying and lifting equipment up to 50 pounds.

Lecture/Lab Hours: 2 lab hrs/week
