Agriculture AAS

This program provides the flexibility for Agriculture AAS degree bound students to focus on one of the three major agriculture disciplines offered at Sheridan College while selecting from a wide variety of agriculture support courses with the assistance of their faculty advisor.  This is an ideal degree track for those wishing to explore a number of different agricultural-related areas or those wishing to acquire specific and unique skills and knowledge in agriculture.

Agriculture AAS Program Outcomes

  1. Apply the scientific method to real-world problems in agriculture.
  2. Develop a global perspective on the agricultural industry.
  3. Communicate effectively in the realm of agriculture.
  4. Compare marketing channels for agricultural products.

Freshman Year


Two tracks are available for the AAS degree – Agriculture Business or Animal Science.  Student should choose 1 track for program requirements and program electives.  Mixing courses between the two tracks is not allows.  Students should collaborate with their faculty advisor to complete and maintain an educational plan that identifies a semester-by-semester sequence of courses that will lead to the AAS degree.

Program Requirements


Agriculture Business: 19 credit hours from AGEC 1020 Agriculatural Microeconomics (3 cr), AGEC 2300 Agricultural Marketing (3 cr), AGEC 2360 Agricultural Sales (3 cr), AGEC 2020 Farm & Ranch Business Management (4 cr), AGRI 2385 Agricultural Communications (3 cr), AGRI 1010 Computers in Agriculture (3 cr)

Animal Science: 20 credit hours from ANSC 1010 Livestock Production (4 cr), ANSC 2015 Livestock Reproduction (3 credits), ANSC 2020 Feeds and Feeding (4 credits), ANSC 2110 Beef Production (3 cr), ANSC 2320 Livestock Pathology (3 cr), REWM 2000 Principles of Range Management (3 cr)

Program Electives


Agriculture Business:  25 credit hours from AGEC, AECL, AGRI, ANSC, BIOL, CHEM, CNTK, CROP, DESL, EQST, FCSC, FDSC, HORT, MCHT, REWM, WELD courses

Animal Science:  24 credit hours from ANSC, AECL, AGEC, AGRI, BIOL, CHEM, CNTK, CROP, DESL, EQST, FCSC, FDSC, HORT, MCHT, REWM, WELD courses
