Theater and Dance AA

The Theatre & Dance Program is designed to prepare students for transfer to a baccalaureate program and for work in the areas of entertainment, education, art direction, design, industry, and commerce. The program provides an opportunity for students to practice their craft.

Theatre & Dance AA Program Outcomes:

  1. Create a character in a given scenario.
  2. Integrate theory and practice through performance.
  3. Synthesize performance styles, genres, and major playwrights/choreographers from different cultures and historical periods.
  4. Interpret theatre design and production.
  5. Demonstrate the ability to work with others in the context of a production.

UW Transfers: Please refer to the 2+2 articulation agreement for seamless transfer following graduation from NWCCD.

Note:


Cultural Studies choices must come from at least 2 areas: Global Diversity, Humanities, Foreign Language, Social & Behavioral Sciences, Visual & Performing Arts.  Courses should be outside the THEA deparment for those planning to transfer to UW and should include a foreign language.

Recommended electives are various areas of emphasis:


Any combination of approved electives is acceptable for the Theater & Dance AA program.  We encourage students to explore all areas of theater.  The following are suggested electives for specific areas of emphasis in theater.  Foreign language is recommended for students planning to transfer to a 4-year theater program in pursuit of an advanced degree.
