The Certificate in Visual Arts offers a solid foundation in the practice of studio art. Focus on the elements of design and the principles of art will be explored in both 2-Dimentional and 3-Dimentional courses. Students will gain meaningful skills and explore different approaches to art and art making. It may also serve as a primer for arts educators in the K-12 system.
Visual Arts Certificate Program Outcomes
- Application of Foundation Principles: Employ the elements of art and design and compositional principles in 2-D and 3-D work.
- Observation: Produce accurate and proportional representations of real space and objects.
- Conceptual Application: Create work using foundation principles to convey a concept or idea.
- Craftsmanship: Demonstrate a professional level of craftsmanship and technical ability in working with a range of 2D and 3D materials.
- Articulation: Use art and design related vocabulary that is both relevant and appropriate in discussing visual artwork.
- Historical: Discuss different historical and cultural influences in art and design.
