The Theatre & Dance Program is designed to prepare students for transfer to a baccalaureate program and for work in the areas of entertainment, education, art direction, design, industry, and commerce. The program provides an opportunity for students to practice their craft.
Program Outcomes:

Integrate theory and practice through performance.

Synthesize performance styles, genres, and major playwrights/choreographers from different cultures and historical periods.

Demonstrate the ability to work with others in the context of a production.

Note:
Cultural Studies choices must come from at least 2 areas: Global Diversity, Humanities, Foreign Language, Social & Behavioral Sciences, Visual & Performing Arts;Courses should be outside the THEA department for those planning to transfer to UW and should include a foreign language.
Recommended electives are various areas of emphasis:
Foreign language is recommended for students planning to transfer to a 4-year theater program in pursuit of an advanced degree.
Acting/Performance Emphasis (19-20 credits)
Dance Emphasis (19-20 credits)
Musical Theater Emphasis (19-20 credits)
Technical Theater Emphasis (19-20 credits)
Theater Generalist (19-20 credits)
Any combination of the general program electives as approved by a faculty advisor in Theater.
General Program Electives
The general program electives in combination with the degree requirements must equal 60 credits. However, depending on the electives and emphasis selected, the number of credits from the general program electives will vary.
