Computer Aided Design AAS

The Computer Aided Design AAS is designed to give students an introductory background in CAD, strengthen their knowledge of science and improve their writing and analytical skills.  This program introduces students to engineering standards governing the work of CAD technicians in the industry.  Students concentrate on CAD & GIS data modeling, and create intricate, detailed technical drawings using information given to them by engineers, scientists or land surveyors.  Once each series of drawings is complete, they are used by production and construction workers to bring the drawing to life.

This program culminates with a capstone class to expose students to multi-disciplinary data collection and modeling.  Students illustrate scientific field data sets using geodatabases, CAD technology, field data collection units (GPS), and GIS mapping software.

Students who enroll in the Computer Aided Design AAS program may wish to pursue a second degree in the Environmental Engineering Technology AAS program, which carries 37 common credit hours for courses also offered in the Computer Aided Design AAS program.
