CMV 1515 - Class A Driver Training


This course provides hands-on and observational training in the safe operation of Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs) and designated equipment. Students complete a minimum of 10 hours of observation or ride-along experience prior to operating vehicles. Instruction covers essential and advanced driving techniques, including control, backing, shifting, signaling, hazard perception, and operation in varied conditions. As the final step in the CMV licensure sequence, students demonstrate safe vehicle operation under instructor supervision. Completion prepares students to apply for CDL licensure or endorsements. Repeatable for credit based on endorsement or certification pursued; applicable to AAS degrees and certificate programs.
Prerequisites: Submission of 10-year Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), CDL Learners Permit, DOT Medical Card, Entry Level Driver Training certification, and instructor consent.
Minimum Credits: 6
Grading: Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory
