BIOL 1050 - Medical Terminology for Health Care This course is designed for students interested in health care professions. It covers major roots, suffixes, and prefixes. Students study how various word elements are used to form thousands of medical terms. The course also covers the basics of the body system.

Minimum Student Competencies Upon completion of BIOL 1050 Medical Terminology, the student will:
- analyze medical words by dividing them into component parts.
- relate the medical terms to the structure and function of the human body in the context of how the body works in health and disease.
- identify the basic structure and functions of the body systems.
- verify spelling of medical terminology.
- discriminate pronunciation of medical terminology.
- apply medical terms to medical conditions.
- appraise medical reports.
