INET 1890 - Introduction to Web Design This course explores the design theory and principles of creating quality Web pages. Topics include: Web constraints and advantages, Web versus print, design basics, site purpose, site content, matrix design, accessibility, usability, style, look and feel, fixed versus liquid, liabilities, copyrights, inspiration and trends, and navigation techniques. Students will explore the definitions of good versus bad web design. Students will put theory into practice by designing their own web site.
Co-requisites: INET 1650 - Web Programming I or Instructor Consent
Minimum Student Competencies Upon completion of INET 1890 Introduction to Web Design, the student will:
- examine the relationship between content, structure and design that is the foundation of successful web design.
- perform usability and accessibility testing on web sites.
- evaluate web site designs for effectiveness.
- design an attractive, effective, user-centered web site.
- apply basic graphic design principles to web site design.
- determine effective navigation schemes.
