The Health Science AS degree is the recommended course of study for those who wish to pursue a career in healthcare. The program is designed to provide students with a broad general education, as well as an introduction to a variety of healthcare related areas. The Health Science AS degree is a good choice for the following:
- Students preparing for application to the Dental Hygiene or Nursing Programs.
- Massage therapy students seeking an Associate degree.
- General health science students seeking transfer to a four-year college.
Health Science Program Outcomes:
- Apply research techniques to real-world and theoretical problems.
- Practice effective problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict management strategies.
- Demonstrate communication skills appropriate for a health science professional.
- Examine fundamental concepts for health-science related problems.
- Evaluate the social, mental, physical, and/or spiritual factors influencing the health and wellbeing of diverse populations.
Required Course of Study for AS Degree
Courses recommended for Dental Hygiene and Nursing are shown in parentheses. Massage Therapy and transfer-out student should follow general requirements.

Program Electives
The number of elective credit must be adjusted between 12-14 so that a minimum of 60 credits are successfully completed. Elective courses must be from at least 3 different departments. |
