The Horticulture and Sports Turf Management Associates of Applied Science Program prepares students for careers in the broad field of horticulture including athletic and recreational turf grass management, greenhouse management, landscaping, and crop production. A solid background in the fundamentals of plant production, landscape design and maintenance, turf and plant identification is at the heart of the program. Graduates will be qualified to enter the work force at entry-level positions in horticultural businesses nationwide.
Horticulture and Turf Grass Program Outcomes:
- Manage environmental factors that promote healthy plant growth and propagation in outdoor and controlled environment situations
- Identify correctly plant material, both woody and herbaceous that is used in the horticultural industry throughout the inter-mountain west
- Plan effective landscape designs and their maintenance
- Manage turf in residential, golf and athletic applications
- Apply basic plant physiology concepts in the production of horticultural crops
