Horticulture and Sports Turf Management AAS

The Horticulture and Turf Grass Associates of Applied Science Program is designed to allow the student to pursue individual interests in the broad field of horticulture including golf, athletic and recreational turf areas.  A solid background in the fundamentals of plant production, landscape design and maintenance, turf and plant identification is at the heart of the program.  Graduates will be qualified to enter the work force at entry level positions in horticultural businesses nationwide.

Horticulture and Turf Grass Program Outcomes:

  • Manage environmental factors that promote healthy plant growth and propagation in outdoor and controlled environment situations
  • Identify correctly plant material, both woody and herbaceous that is used in the horticultural industry throughout the inter-mountain west
  • Plan effective landscape designs and their maintenance
  • Manage turf in residential, golf and athletic applications
  • Apply basic plant physiology concepts in the production of horticultural crops
